Today we went on a trip to KPMG all the year 7 & 8 extension group came but there were some people that were picked to go to KPMG. We had loads of fun! and we even got delicious morning tea and lunch. The reason why we went there was because to get to know more about our school topic which is "Something In The Water"
When we arrived at the KPMG building we were greeted by Justine and also a few of the staff members. We then walked into the infinity room which was pretty much just like a lounge, Justine told us that Nate the chef had left which I didn't even know who that was since it was the first time I've ever been to KPMG. After we then got to the introductions and got to know all of those staff members and then we met two ladies called Suzy and Lucy who told us about what they do at Tonkin + Taylor. Suzy and Lucy also told us about the environment and how they are helping the marine animals.
We then had some morning tea which was delicious scones with jam and cream, we then went to sustainable coastlines which explained to us about beach clean ups and how we can get involved we also talked about planting trees. We then walked around and checked out the place and also did you know that the toilets are compostable toilet and some of us even went and tried it.
After looking around the place we then took a group photo and started to walk back to KPMG, when we arrived at KPMG we split into four teams and got given a piece of paper that had a Māori god and we had to search what they were in charge of and research on what is threatening it. After researching about the god that we got we had a mini break and got to eat lunch, lunch was amazing we had mini burgers, mini pizza, curly fries, salad and fruit kebab, our god that we had to research about was Tāne Mahuta and the thing that was threatening Tāne Mahuta was plastic. After our lunch break we went back to our desks and started creating a robot that would help clean up the plastics and to help the forest and help out with the animals that live in the forests, we split up into two groups and one group worked on the robot itself and the other team which I was in worked on a tree sculpture which the robot was supposed to create out of plastic.
When we finished with our robot and our tree sculpture and the time was up we all shared what our robot does and what it does to help out. After we all presented it was time to go back to school so we then cleaned up our desks and Bethan said a on behalf of us, after all the goodbyes we then walked to the bus and we drove back to school. Overall I really enjoyed going to KPMG and I think that the others did too.
