Tha Zin Immersion Assembly

Today on the 29th of April which is also the first day of term 2 of school, this term's theme is I like your latitude. The question that we are focusing on is "Where in the latitude are you?" and also we are going to be learning about Longitude and Latitude this term.

All of the teams each made a mini movie to show what they are going to be learning in their classes and even Mr Vogt, Mrs Lagitupu and Miss Va'afusuaga made a mini movie of their own since each year they don't get to make their own movie. Team 1's movie was about saving bees and trying to create more of the bees so that they don't go extinct, using latitude and longitude they are going to find the nearest bee hive and try to help them to survive in the wild.

Team 2's mini movie was about when they had a Easter egg hunt last term and how they found the eggs, to find them team 2 looked under, over, left, right and all around their space to find the chocolate covered marshmallow eggs. This term they will be hiding their own treasure and will be creating their own treasure maps and once they have completed their maps they will give the map to their friends and they will try to find the hidden treasure.

Team 3's movie was about pick a path this term they will be focusing on pick a paths and they will be getting to pick where they go, in the movie Miss Scanlan gave an example where she was walking to school and along the way she met a fairy who gave her some choices to go to make the walk to school a bit more fun.

Team 4's movie was about how all the teachers accept for Mr Goodwin all gathered at pak n save and Mr Goodwin gave them a task that they could not use their gps or their car to get back to school he left a map close to where they met at and off they went trying to find the way back to school, when they arrived back at school they were all mad at Mr Goodwin because he was the one who made them go through what they just went through.
Team 5's little play was about VTA which stands for Virtual Travel Agency Miss Tapuke and her family wanted to go on a two week vacation and the first continent that they went to was Europe where the Eiffel tower was and the second location they went to was North America where they went to Disneyland and the third place they went to was Africa where Miss Tapuke got to pet a lion in the wild the last place that they went to was Asia where they went to the great wall of China.

S.M.C which stands for Sporty Space, Maker Space and Creative Space Miss Va'afusuaga who is the Sporty Space teacher and Mr Vogt who is the teacher for Maker Space and lastly Mrs Lagitupu who is Creative Space teacher also created their own movie, their movie was about Teachers in Space it was about what time they wake up, how they get to school, how much time they take to get to school and which way to go to school, and also they showed all the things that they need to take care of at school.

My favourite out of all it was Teachers in Space I enjoyed seeing their morning routine and how they take care of the emergency's at school. Mr Vogt helped pick up the rubbish so that the "virus" does not spread around the school and Mrs Lagitupu took care of all the coding and laptop stuff and Miss Va'afusuaga who took care of the meteoroid from hitting earth.

Overall I am very very excited for what we are going to be learning this term and excited about my animation and also about learning latitude and longitude and learning about all the continents and where they are.

Tha Zin Career Talk

Hello there today, on the 10th of April after morning tea three special people came to team 5 to tell us about how they got their work and what they had to do to get that job. Two of the three was a former Pt Englander and the third one who's called Tanielu Tela who is actually Mrs Tele'a son, and the first guy who's called Jason Young was and still is Mr Tela's Friend from primary school. The second one who's called Fiona Bakulich who is Mrs Tele'a sister (Fiona is only one year younger then Mr's Tele'a)

Lets firstly talk about Jason, Jason is a Dysart Builder and he may not really look like a triathlon athlete but in 2018 Iron Man (if you don't know what iron man is it's pretty much a triathlon, you have to run, bike and swim) he beat Iron Man with Miss Tetou who was a former Pt England teacher, he was a former Pt Englander and also a former Tamiki College student.

Secondly lets talk about Fiona Bakulich, she is a funeral directer and she stared in the tv programme The Casketeers. She was inspired to become a funeral directer because of her parents they were a funeral directer and she didn't want them to work long hours because of their job so she decided to become one and give up her time. Fiona also told us that if we ever wanted to become a funeral directer we had to have a big warm heart and we had to even give up time for family because becoming a funeral directer means working 24 hours.

Thirdly and lastly is Tanielu Tele'a who is Mrs Tele'a son, he is a rugby player for the blues team and in his free time he likes to play many video games and he said that we should enjoy being our age and that we should also take all the love and advice our parents give us. He also told us to try new things and also he is also still in contact with his friends that he had ever since primary he was a former Pt Englander and a former St Kent student.

In Conclusion I really enjoyed having them come to team 5 and give us some advice on our future careers and I am pretty sure that most other people found it helpful as well. Now I am pretty sure that most people are second thinking on about what they want to become and what career they will have in the future. In the end we also got to say thanks to all of them and even gave each one a little gift to take back.

Tha Zin Attitude Talk

Yesterday we had a lady called Jannah in Arabic her name means "gracious gift" she came to team 5 to talk about the different friendship types and some tips on keeping a friend. She told us about some friendship myths and also some things that don't really work on a friend.

First she told us about the different friend types like the "girl girl friendship" and the "guy guy friendship" and also even the "girl guy friendship" first let's talk about the "girl girl friendship" she told us that girls talk a lot and when I say a lot I mean A LOT, she also told us that the girl friendships are like face to face as in girls care a lot about their friends. Guy guy friendships on the other hand are mostly like shoulder to shoulder friendship which means that guys don't really care a lot about their friends, for an example if it's a guy friends birthday they don't really give much effort to their cards and girls care A LOT about birthdays.

Secondly was the things that just don't work....
1. Mean Humour - Kiwi's love to mock their friends about some silly things and friends don't really care about it but everyone is also sensitive about a certain thing.
2. Back Stabbing- she told us that back stabbing was definitely a thing that could ruin a friendship and overall is just not a nice/good thing to do to a friend.
3. Smothering- she told us that if you ever make a new friend and if you notice that they are excited to be your friend but just take it as a compliment that someone is excited to be your friend.
4. Bullying- of course bullying is horrible it's pretty much the opposite of making a friend Jannah felt sad for the bullies and the ones who are getting bullied there's a saying "hurt people hurt people" it pretty much means that hurt people can also hurt other people so that they can be pleased by seeing someone get hurt.

Also she gave us 6 different tips to having a great friendship...
1. be friendly- this little tip is the one where even adults forget about sometimes well not just adults but everyone forgets sometimes.
2. remembering names- Jannah had a thing she would do if she ever forget a friend's name and that little technique she had was to cough whenever she didn't remember the name.
3. learn to listen- instead of just playing of texting on a phone at least listen to your friends conversations that they tell you and the story's they have to tell you.
4. be positive- adults also forget about this to be honest everyone forgets about this tip that makes the world a way better place.
5.Remember special times- remembering special times may be remembering your friends birthdays or your friendships anniversary don't just forget their birthday because then they might think that you don't really care much about them and your friend might think that you think eh about your friendship.
6. Be yourself- being yourself around your friends is the best thing to form a great friendship, being yourself around your friends is also a good thing to be doing because then you are actually pleasing yourself and if you aren't being yourself around your friends you aren't pleasing anyone.

Lastly she told us about some friendship myths and one of them were that we all struggle at times there is not a single person living out there that has never struggled in their life before. Another thing that is a friendship myth is that everyone needs to have heaps of friends this is totally a myth and is not true at all everyone can have heaps of friends but having some quality friends is what everyone needs, scientists have proved that 5 quality friends is all people really need but you can still have more than 5 of course.

Overall I really enjoyed the conversation she had with us she was really funny and quite relatable put your hand up if you have ever been embarrassed in front of your friend oh right I can't see but anyways I just enjoyed everything she told us about and I liked the friendship tips the most so now I'm always keeping them in mind.
