{DMIC} Liquorice Lace

 

For yesterdays DMIC maths lesson some of us met on the ground to revise fractions and equivalent fractions. We then got a maths problem that went like "Jahzara has a liquorice lace that is 12cm long, she has 3 other friends. How is she going to split it evenly for the 4 of them?" so when we got passed down our liquorice lace we got onto dividing it evenly for 4. After that we had another question we then had to solve, it went like "Jahzara's other two friends want some as well, how will you divide it again so that each of them has equal pieces?". Lastly we just divided the 4 strings into 3 so that we had 12 strings in the end. 

Paul Bunyan: An American Legend

TASK DESCRIPTION:In Mrs Moala's room we learnt about the American legend about the giant woodsman Paul Bunyan. We watched a short video explaining the legend and researched a bit about him, we then had a few tasks to finish. Enjoy my short presentation about Paul Bunyan!

Cambodian Myth of Lightning, Thunder and Rain

TASK DESCRIPTION: For today's inquiry task we transferred into room 11 to learn about the Cambodian myth of lightening, thunder and rain. We watched a short video explaining the myth and then got started on the slide!

The Myth of Hermes

TASK DESCRIPTION: Today in inquiry we learnt about the ancient Greeks and some famous myths. We learnt about the different gods (Ancient Greece was polytheistic) and their story of creation. We then looked at some of the crazy things newborn Hermes was able to do in this story.

Immersion Assembly, Term 3

Today is the first day for term 3! I'm looking forward to this term as there will be loads of events taking place! This term's theme is 'A world of difference'.

Each team presented what they were going to do this term. My favourite team must be team 5! not trying to be biased. They went up on stage and did a small play for the whole school, we found out that we were going to be taking a look at myths from all through out the world.

We got told the story of Sina and the eel, a story of love and sadness. The eel confessed his love but got rejected which was already sad, the eel follows Sina everywhere she goes and as the story progresses her fear for him grew bigger. Till one day when Sina had enough, she told her uncles and cousins where the cousin chopped off the eels head. Before dying the eel asked Sina to plant his head as his last wish, after they had planted his head a tree grew from it along with coconuts. It is said that the three holes represent his eyes and mouth so whenever you drink the water of it you are also kissing him.

Term 2 Animation ~The Water Cycle~

TASK DESCRIPTION: For this term's animation task we had to animate the water cycle or explain how a volcano worked. Luckily I finished on the very last day of term 2, sadly I forgot about this and so I'm posting it today (on a Sunday...) :)) enjoy!

Term 2 Reflection!

TASK DESCRIPTION: For this task, we had to reflect on some of the things that have happened this term. This term was pretty crazy, and since we had to deal with lock down and corona-virus but even so it test me both as a person and prefect. TOO MANY MORE!
